Recommend me a pair of boots!!!

So following on from my post yesturday about the dublin river boots I decided not to go for them so..

I've had a look through and I'm now debating on what ones to get .. Dublins are now out of the picture as so many people are saying that they broke within a little amount of time so now it's out of .. The toggi canyon boots in black .. Black mountain horse and rider boots the chunky ones or toggi Calgary long boots? They are all in my price range but can't decide what ones to go for?

I want them as comfy as possible as I do lots of dog walking aswell across fields etc so want to be able to wear them for that too!! Help me decide :D

Or if anyone can recommend any other boots do feel free :D
 
The dublin river boots I have are superb!

The new ones I don't think have a problem

I spoke to a shop who do Dublin and they said most people rude in them and they are not meant to be ridden in they have a similar boot for riding with a special inside panel that's sturdier as riding in the river boots maybe not help the lining although I ride in mine and haven't had a problem

With regard to the waterproofing, apparently as with most of these type of boot they need re waterproofing every so often apart from the gore-tex ones
 
Dubarrys.

Ive had mine 3 years or so, and they have taken a helluva lot of abuse.

I ride in them, much the chooks out with them, i wear them 90% of the time and they are by far the most comfortable boots ive ever owned.

I'd agree, but, Dubarry have rubbish customer service and mine are now leaking after two years
 
Well the lining came loose in my River boots and they would get stuck on my feet. I honestly nearly had to cut them off. :mad:

I've had Mountain Horse boots in the past that I was very happy with.

I have heard this before. i would keep contacting them- take them back to where you bought them etc. its alot of money to pay for something that doesnt hold up.

You can get a waterproofing sealant from somewhere, bu i cant remember for the life of me where from.
 
Dubarrys have terrible customer service i have had mine 6 months and the front is peeling away (sole) i phoned them and they asked me to send them to their factory to be repaired at my cost!!!!! (Postage)
 
I was going to say Dublin Oinnable (I think....) they are the ones with laces down the sides, similar to Ariats. I have had a pair for around a year and have absolutely hammered them - well I no longer work with horses but they are worn every day for riding, poo picking, traipsing around the field in mud and gardening! They are still fine and srcub up well when I put the effort in. I think the lining problem has been sorted by Dublin.

I would steer clear of any Mountain Horse long boots with zips, every one I know who has had them has had a problem. I was going to get some but was very much put off by this.
 
The Toggi Calary are lovely to ride in but the zips leak so walking through wet grass and the shallowest of puddles end up with wet feet the zip broke (after about 12 months) so i'm stretching my budget to the £159.99 Ariat in my previous thread as they are GORTEX so they should be great for everything else not just riding.
 
I have some of the Toggi Calgary boots and have walked the dogs in them a few times but wouldn't do it regularly. On the other hand I have a pair of Welligog boots http://www.welligogs.com/Wellington_Wellies/Leather_Country_Boots.html

Which I can't recommend enough! I have been up to near the top of the boots in water (the meadows that I walk the dogs on flood every winter) and my feet have stayed dry, they are that comfy that I can happily wear them all day and they are warm in winter, cool in summer! I have ridden in them no problems and they take such a battering from me but clean up beautifully!
 
For waterproofing products try an 'outdoor' shop like Millets!

I'd vote for Dubarrys if you have the money or Mountain Horse if you need to be frugal.

A friend has Dubarrys which are nearly 8 years old and she's only just thinking of replacing them (they are going to booty heaven any day now). I have Mountain horse and have NEVER had a issue with zips or anything else.

I have Mountain Horse too, and the zips are fine. Plus they are really comfy!! I'm desperate for a new pair tho... 3 years and they've had it!! (worn every day tho, riding, mucking out... you get the picture ;) )

I'm surprised a BHS RS allows them, I'd hate to ride in them.

I don't care what top riders do, I put my safety first. (The same rider also rides without a hat, do you?)

I have the new boots and I rode in them once because they are horrible to ride in!

basically everything that can fall apart on them has, they're fashion boots not yard boots!

Whoa! whats your problem?

Firstly of course i ride in a hat, i also lunge and handle my horse in a hat! not comparable in the slightest.

I find them heaps easier to ride in than my ridiculously expensive riding boots which make me turn my ankle for some reason, they have the same size heel and are just as tough.

I cant see where the safety aspect comes in??? i have three different instructors depending on the day and not one has commented apart from Boots?..yep they are fine!
 
I also have the Toggi boots ^ ^ ^ ^ that are further up in the photo!.. When I say have, I doubt they'll make it through another winter but have been worn daily for last three years! They are fab! I don't ride in them, but only because the stringy bit tickles my horse and it makes him even stronger and even more whizzy!!

They are also lovely and warm in winter and cool enough for summer.. I'll be treating myself to another pair soon!
 
What about Tuffa?
Have just bought a pair on the recommendation from a friend who wears them all the time in the winter and does endurance in them.
They seem better made than Dublin boots

Dubarrys are perfectly safe to ride in and are designed for riding if you so wish.

Can't see what the problem is - Ariat also state that their country Boots are suitable to ride in.
