Its time I got a new hat. I have had it for at least 5 years, and I am sure I have fallen off and hit my head with it, so I think I should really replace it.

I normally have the skull caps with velvet silk, but quite the the ones that look like skull caps, but are really traditional hats, I think showjumpers wear them alot.

So what do you have, and why do you like it? Also how much did it cost you?

I have this, it's LAS Vega Shuttle De Luxe, it costs about £100ish (don't remember exactly) and I'm on my second now, absolutely love it:)

i absolutely love my new hat! its a champion grand prix. its really really light and looks smart. and it looks small on people with big heads (like me) :P it cost just over £100 i think.

My advice is take yourself to a good tack shop with qualified fitter and try on. If you're not happy with what they stock, try another tack shop. I visited 4 tack shops and all the stands at Hickstead before finding a hat that fitted properly from a local tack shop with an excellent fitter. My problem for having a funny shaped head, but what price comfort and safety?!

Trouble is most tack shops sell the same things so there's no choice

i have a peaked cap shaped head so most Jockey skull caps don't fit me - the only one that did wheni tried a load on was the charles owen pro II which i love - in terms of peaked caps - i just go charles own too

Champion Ventair - Im on my 3rd one and love it! Keeps your head cool and the level of protection is top quality.

You beat me to it thelwell girl:D
I would like a lightweight ventilated hat but they dont fit me properly, so I need to go for another Champion because they do. Judging by comments on here I will try the ventair.
Different make suit different heads.

Bwahaha :D

I seem to have a Charles Owen shaped head, but I've shamefully only had two hats having ridden for 10 years :o I'm due for a new one pretty soon!

The olny one within an hour of me only sell Charles Owen because " we feel they are the best for quality and price". Grand, except they dont fit my head at all.....

Sadly, the only real advice is to go try on as many as possable, but nothing wrong with checking out the web to see what style you like :p

I have a Charles Owen young rider skull cap, it's old though (3-4 years its been fell off on loads, dropped onto concrete and thrown around, i'm BAD..) and has no ventilation, yuck in hot weather! My friend recently got one but ut has ventilation. I really like velvet hats with the flesh couloured harness and 'showjumper' ones like the ventair.

I have just suffered a fall at BE and my hat fell off before I hit my head on the floor! It was a HS1 and the manufacturers have taken it back for investigation. It fell off because the catch came undone. I will not be riding in one again that is for sure.

i love my troxel legacy gold. on days like we've been having, in my old hat my hair would be soaked after bouncing around on ben, but nice dry hair with this one. and v comfy and light too. plus adjustable so can get perfect fit. i paid about £45.

Champion Ventair is a really versatile, lightweight, comfortable and safe hat. I like mine so much, I bought a fab smary Champion Ventair Grand Prix style for competition.
