Looking for a good second hand dressage saddle (limited budget up to £400)
Have been advised against Bridlepath in Stowmarket and some chap called Tom and the chap at Ingatestone Saddlery and there doesnt seem to be much else. I know David Merrett but apparently he isnt qualified which I am a bit loath to use.....

We bought a secondhand saddle from Ingatestone Saddlery, fitted by Roger, without going into too much detail had to take it back as it didn't fit actually swung down onto pony's side whilst daughter was jumping, and they gave us a full refund. We took pony to David Merrett and he was really good, very thorough and actually didn't sell us a saddle as he didn't have anything to fit pony (pony is hard to fit). i would recommend him, qualified or not.

Both of my saddles were fitted by Bridlepath and I've not had any issues with the fit of either of them - personally would recommend them

Mark Fisher - very well though of on here - may come down your way he is based near Wisbech

Mark checks my saddles (the ones fitted by Bridlepath) now and has been very good - and agreed both fitted the horse fine

I am from Essex and had the same problem with my young mare it was a nightmare in the end I got three saddles from Saddles Direct and my saddler (who does not do secondhand saddles) to fit them for me. Saddles Direct are very helpful and I would highly recommend them.

Bridlepath are excellent. They are one of very few saddlers I will let near my horse. Have recommened them to others and all have been very impressed.

I would recommend Bridlepath as well, extremely thorough and professional and did a very good job of fitting George's jumping saddle and when he had his back checked the physio said his saddle had been fitted very well. I have recommended Bridlepath to others and they have been very happy too.

David Smith from Priory Farm (Boxted Essex)- huge range of new and second hand. He jumped to a high level a few years back and really knows his stuff.

Another vote for Liz at Mill Saddlery, Stowupland. Very approachable and very happy with the saddle she fitted.

Another vote for Liz have used her for many years , she was originally at Bridlepath.

Another for Bridlepath, was very impressed with their service.

If it's the same 'chap called Tom' I used, I would advise very strongly against - as would a number of other people on this forum - I am still trying to sort out the damage he caused a year ago.
