Recommend me a vet for a vetting on the Wiral please

Hi All,

I am going to view a horse this week based on the Wirral.

I have everything crossed that this is "the one" having had a really lengthy chat with the owners, seen a lot of videos and photos, a chat with her instructor and the DC of the PC where they have been regular and active members for the past two years.

Unfortunately the horse is an 8 hour round trip away ... So we will probably just view him the once.

We will definitely be having a vetting and I thought it might be prudent to investigate our options now. Will probably go for a 5 stage but not sure.

Has anyone used any local vets for a vetting? Can you recommend me a good, through and honest vet or equally tell me of one to avoid or that you weren't impressed with?

My vets are based in Frodsham, which is pretty near to the Wirral. I haven't used them that much as my horse is a fairly healthy sort! But they vetted him for me and he's been healthy ever since They are a large, well respected equine practice - http://www.brownmossequineclinic.co.uk/

Did you have a 5* or 2*, do you remember roughly how much it cost?

I had a 5 stage which was around £220, but I didn't have bloods done as I knew the horse, that was 3 years ago!

Leahurst tend to be the vest of choice on the Wirral. I think you might struggle to get Brown Moss to go out that far if it is in the upper bit of the Wirral. You might be best posting this in the north west bit to get some more suggestions.

The vendor recommended Leahurst (she isn't with them).

Think I will pop over to the north west bit, thanks for the suggestion.

Having called both practices Leahurst charge 325 including call out for a 5 stage whereas BrownMoss are 215 including call out for a 5 stage, so a fair difference in price... which is fine, if there is a difference in service, but if they are both as detailed and thorough as each other then of course I would rather not pay over the odds!
