A big as possible while still being easy to push and steer and maybe a tipping one. For trying to get as much mucking out/poo picking into one barrow and onto the muck heap without destroying my back.
Thank you 😁

I have a big 200ltr twin wheel barrow from Wheelbarrows direct, I like it, but have to be careful not to go mad with filling it as it's quite heavy to tip out after. It's also filled in as an impromptu water container in the field on occasion ahah

Considerations that I should have taken before I bought one of the big twin wheeled ones.

When full of poo you need to be very strong to wheel it across a field! Plus you can get it to the muck heap but not up it!

Sold it and have stuck with a smaller barrow since...

I had a big green plastic one, can't remember the brand, Fort possibly? I don't like metal ones & wouldn't go too big as too heavy when full.

Got our big one from wheelbarrows direct, great price and really good quality.
Agree with others though if you're poo picking a field, it is very heavy when full, but you could always get another person to push with you (because you have twin wheels)
Not very heavy when full of straw though :)

I find the bigger barrows too big to manage. I’d rather stick to my bog standard chillington builder’s barrow and do 2 trips!

I tried a ball barrow today and that too is out- not very stable!

agree with this. We still have one of the big ones, yes it tips, but its really heavy. Theres no way you can push it up a muck heap. Hubby just got us an ali one, its so light, i wouldnt go back to a big one again

Unless very level or just going from a stable to a muck pit the double wheel ones are a nightmare. We have a very old frankenstein barrow it holds enough poo to poo pick 3 ponies once every 24 hours or two horses on ad lib grazing. It is made up comprising a great big metal frame, a big plastic tub and an unbreakable wheel all from different barrows over the years

I had a big two wheeled one for a while but I didn’t like it.
I like metal barrows they last ages and can be recycled when they wear out. I have had my current one 5yrs and it’s had a lot of use. It’s an unbranded one from the local agricultural merchant.

I love my Haemmerlin 300 litre two wheeler. Brilliant for transporting everything down to the paddock. It's better if you pull it when full but I do struggle to tip if it's wet poo. Gets borrowed if not put out of sight!

I excitedly bought a two wheeled one, it's rubbish on our slightly un level hard-core yard, and is too wide to fit up the ramp onto the muck trailer 😐🤔

It's the same with a rucksack...

Oh, yes, it's nice to have a 120L capacity rucksack, and to have compression sacks so that those big bulky things like sleeping bags and down jackets get squished down to the size of a bag of flour.

But then you realise that you've managed to cram 50kg of stuff into it, before a 30 minute walk to the railway station to go to the airport.

I'm on the lookout for a new wheelbarrow, too. The old one is not bad, but after a few too many punctures I decided to replace the tyre and inner tube with a whole new front wheel with a solid tyre. So I took off one axle bracket, took off the old wheel, put the new wheel on and went to tighten up the axle bracket. I didn't put much force into turning the bolt, but it was enough to break the really, really nasty grey cast iron bracket.

So for the want of a cheap axle bracket, the whole barrow is out of commission and I might end up buying a new barrow.

Or I could buy a pack of 100 axle brackets for £10.

Im also on the look out for new wheelbarrow as my 90l just not quite big enough but don't want to get a massive 200l or double wheeler due to tipping & steering issues.
I tried the County 120l from a DIY store but handles aren't long enough.
Have just found this although they're pricey plus delivery costs but have measured it & it still goes underneath fencing which is a must but gives much greater capacity whilst still being able to tip -
