As title really , my hotline eagle seams to have died , it has been out in all weathers for a couple of years , so i guess it's hardly surprising really , but they do cost a fair bit of money so i feel a bit miffed that it's not working , anyway another one is needed poste haste so any pearls of wisdom for a moderately priced one , it only has a fairly short length of fence to electrify.:)

I have this one for my sheep fence (six strand polywire) its very good and once they have learned to respect it you can turn down the pulses to save battery power. You can normally find them for about £80 new on ebay.

I think Rutland are supposed to be good but my budget wouldnt stretch to one of those

I would buy another like I have though, it does the job very well

i've got a hotline and a gallagher - one is the big batteries that is a bit of a pain, the other one is small and takes 6 of the D type batteries, which are rechargeable so saves me a load, plus the I've had the bigger ones nicked, with the small one (which still gives a great kick) I've taped it up with back take so its not orange and its hardly noticeable.

The Gallagher cost me £78, but they seem to be a little less now! http://www.gallagherelectricfencing...lagher-electric-fencing-energiser-766731.html

rutland or hotline, i have one of each, the rutland 'electric shepherd' has lasted the longest:) i never got on with the little cell battery ones, cost me a fortune in batteries and then filled itself with water in the rain and went pop:rolleyes:

I'm a big fan of Hotline and the main reason I chose one to start with is that they can be fairly easily repaired, unlike some other makes. I have had some minor repairs done very cheaply to two of mine (thanks to vandal horses :)) It would be worth speaking to the company to see if they would mend it. My local clipper sharpening chap also does fencers and he mended mine.

That's really good advice , i will ask at the agricultural merchants where i bought it , they deal with hotline and rutland i think , it maybe worth me seeing if they can take a look at it..

thanks to everyone one who answered :)
