Recommend me an immune system booster !!

My horse has a v. weak immune system in the winter and was wondering what supplement would be best ?

Protein builds not only muscle but also the immune system- is he getting enough in his diet? If not, lysine is the one which is most often short, and according to Foargeplus, helps the uptake of the other amino acids.

One of my horses has a suppressed immune system , last season he had a new injection from the vet that boosts the immune reponse I really think it helped but I can't remember what it was called but it might be worth asking the vet it was a drug not a vitamin shot .

Turmeric, apple cider vinegsar with the mother, aloe vera or manuka honey. I feed my girl turmeric and not only does she feel amazing but shes so happy I can tell her insiddes are feeling great.

I use pro pel and can't recommend it enough, my tbs used to get an infection in the smallest of cuts and its seemed to have stopped them. Have also introduced a friend who is also pleased with how it's worked on her horse prone to infections in her legs

Feeding Aloe Vera is scientifically proven to boost the immune system in horses, but is normally only given to assist with recovering from a virus or something as they need quite a lot (125-250ml/day) for it to be effective, so is not cost effective for long term use. Hollend and Barrett usually do a buy 1 get 1 half price, or free offer!

A B vitamin supplement will also help.

Speak with your vet and see what they recommend.
