recommend me an indestructible mineral lick for fields

Both my horses are licking soil so it is time to buy them a field lick. Unfortunately they are a pair of utter thugs so what ever it is will have to be as hard as nails.

Does anyone have one that has proven to take some serious punishment in the hands (or should that be hooves) of knobbers!

I have the most clumsy horse ever and just buy those £2+ old fashioned blocks of salt etc and throw them on the floor. they last a few weeks until he eventually stands on it to make two salt licks

If I had somewhere to tie one of the big himalayan I would probably get one of those.

I dont find it gets dirty on the floor etc.
 
I'm not sure I dare tie anything to the fence incase they pull it down and the fence with it!

They're idiots! I hadn't thought of just throwing it on the floor though. That sounds sensible!
 
one of those dengi stable licks are good in the tub really big about £15 my horse cant get through it very quickly and he is a savage when it comes to killing things and eating things reallt quickly took ages to get through it and it weighs alot so he couldnt move it ;)

I believe Rockies do a big mineral block for fields but as above I just buy the £2.99 mineral licks and chuck them on the floor along with a himalyan salt lick (I just throw away the rope and leave it on the floor).

SOmetimes the cows get them and sometimes the horses destroy them but at £2.99 its not the end of the world!
 
I'm just going to go to the feedshop and buy what is cheap I think. Neither of them are allowed nice things as they are vandals.

They'll probably ignore what ever I put out for them and continue to lick the soil anyway. They are strange creatures at the best of times.

Mine had taken to pawing at the ground about 6 weeks ago and was licking soil. I bought a big square rockies mineral lick from the feed merchant for £8.00. Haven't seen him lick it at all but he isn't pawing the ground or licking soil anymore either. It looks untouched but at least he's got a choice now. They are really hard and pretty indestructable I think.
 
i got mine a dengie lick - she does use it occasionally but was told that if licking soil deficient in selenium so have been feeding a selenium supplement in feed and she has stopped doing it now!!!
 
Maybe I should get the posh looking one then as that appears to have selenium in it:D

I think maybe it looks posh because it comes in a box!
 
Now I just need to find someone who won't charge me £5 delivery! I have got too used to everything having free delivery these days. lol
