I have a max budget of £200 for a pair of long leather riding boots. They need to be durable for everyday riding but polish up nicely for competitions. Would ideally like them to last for a few years!
Any suggestions? thanks :)

PS are the field type boots with the laces at the bottom okay for competition use?
Thanks

Ariat Bromont H2O are good value and under £200. Make sure you get them long enough as all leather boots will drop a cm or 2. Field boots are good for competition.

Am really liking those :)

Oooooo just spotted the brown pair........love them!!
Would brown be incorrect for dressage??

Bromonts for under £200 - where? I paid £230 for mine and the cheapest ive found are £215! I want some brown ones just for training in, they are so beautiful! :)

Mark Todd has some wonderful ones but im not sure exactly what they are called, they are about £180 i think and very good quality. My friend has some one order

I LOVE my Bromonts 2 years in and still going strong and no issues wth broken zips or anything !! I think they might have saved my life a few times with the sticky sued inside panel. The H2O is more of a winter boot though perfect for hunting

Mark Todd boots are on offer on the equestrian clearnace website atm - I've always really liked the look of them slim lined and smart ! £108 for the plain boot £113 for the field boot !!! Bargainous :-)

Keep your eye on ebay. I bought myself and my daughter a brand new pair each for £109 including delivery (per pair, not for both pairs).

QR - I was going to defo recommend Mountain Horse Supreme riding boots, but they are £265. TBH, the extra £65 is so worth it!!

I cant wear long boots, as I have week ankles, which long boots make my ankle too fixed and also all long boots tend to rub my heels red raw. Mountain Horse supremes didn't! They are so soft and have a flexible area around the ankle which means my ankle can move and they don't rub!! they look so smart for comps too.

I am a MH addict though. In the winter I ride in MH boots and leggings and in the summer, I wear the supremes!

Ingatestone Saddlery.... ignore the web price as Ariat won't allow them to advertise under RRP, but they are around £170 instore.

Mountain Horse sportive high rider (thinner soled version of the high rider). I`ve had 2 pairs and they are so comfortable. Use them everyday all year round and they still polish up really well for the shows>

I have them in brown for dressage and no one has shot at us yet! (and we have been to poncy places full of shiny horses and boots!). I got mine in the sale at farmcareuk - I just got an email about the sale and bought them pdq as they were such a good deal! I love them though, v comfy and smart looking.
I also have a pair of these http://www.equiwear.co.uk/mountain-horse-classic-high-rider-717-p.asp which were a total bargain. Comfy too and a more traditional looking boot if you want to blend in a bit better! I do regret getting the longer length in them though as they haven't dropped v much so they murder the backs of my knees. I should just wear them more to get them comfier but because I love the bromonts so much I'm afraid I haven't bothered!

I love my Tuffa Norfolks - £140 nubuck leather. Perhaps you'd prefer a boot with a smooth, shinier surface though for wearing to competitions? Dublin Talls are gorgeous and comfy but again, unless the shows are relaxed, might not be appropriate. They are only £80 though!

My sister has the Mountain Horse Supremes and they are lovely. Very soft. She's had them about 4 months and they look great still.
