recommend me some clippers please

Hi all,
I'm thinking about investing in some clippers, given that what I've spent having my three clipped this winter alone would more than pay for a decent set. :o

They would need to be quiet given that the old boy is normally terrified of them and I would prefer if they were cordless, but it's not a necessity. :)

So far I've seen a few pairs that may be suitable. Has anybody got any comments on:
Heinigar Saphir
Oster A5 Power Pro
Lister Libretto

Any recommendations would be appreciated :)
 
Liveryman Harmony... they are my first ever clippers, I love em! Very quiet and cordless! :D

I got them as one of my mares turned herself inside out when I had someone out to clip her using loud, heavy ones off the mains. 2 sessions de-sensitizing with the Harmony's and she had a clip :)
 
I have some Masterclip Royale clippers which I have found brilliant. Mine have a cord, but it is possible to buy them with a battery pack so they can be cordless. They are medium duty and very quiet. I had no problem doing a full clip with them on my TB (albeit he isn't over hairy) as even though I had a pair of big clippers, he was being ticklish and silly with them, but didn't object to the masterclip ones (which I had just been planning to do head and legs with)

They retail at about £100 for the corded version, so good value.

We have the Oster A5 clippers at work and seem to have no end of problems with the cordless version not charging up properly etc. I would personally struggle to do a full clip with them on a regular basis. I also believe the lister librettos are less than ideal for doing a full clip all though have not used them personally.
 
I have the masterclip royales too and the cordless ones (though they can also be plugged into the mains as well.)

I did a bib and belly clip and partial neck clip on my very furry new forest about two weeks ago he has a double layered coat and they were fine though the battery ran down after about 45 minutes and they did not clip that fast but I think in part that was because I was quite slow as had never clipped before so was learning and he is exceptionally furry with a double layered coat of about 2 inches so had to clip first layer of fur off and then 2nd layer so the clippers were working quite hard. Normally he gets clipped in Oct so would be less furry but due to an injury he was clipped late.

I then plugged them into the mains to finish him off, they did clip faster when plugged into the mains.

I don't think you could clip 3 horses with them without recharging the battery unless you were very fast!

I wouldn't be clipping them all on one charge :p
I was just thinking that the cordless ones might be easier around jerry because he gets very nervous and we wouldn't have to worry about the mains cord if he did panic :)

well i have just done my first clip on my four year old and we used liveryman element trimmers they are really quiet and cordless i would recommend them becuse my 4 yr old hardly noticed them !!!:D
 
I have a set of Lister Liberty and Libretto cordless.

They are very powerful for a cordless set and can highly recommend them.

The Libretto trimmers are very quiet, and its soooo much easier without the lead. I don't have electricity where I am which is why I got them, after test-clipping my friends set on my hogged cob. I can do a full clip, legs and hog on one battery. I think even if I had electricity I would still have them tbh. :D

Got them from farmcare when they had an offer on for the set.
