I have two cairn terriers which I usually send to the dog groomers to be clipped. The prices have gone up and its now costing me £60 every three months for them to be done. I'm thinking of having a go at doing it myself - probably just every other cut - so that the dog groomer can at least keep them in a basic style. Can anyone recommend me a decent set of clippers for dogs? Many thanks.

I users, mainly because I think they are reliable, last forever, and they are in a descent price bracket, and they can get through the thickest/mattiest of hair.
Some dislike them, as they are heavier then some other clippers, but I prefer them.
I paid £95 for my last single speed pair, with a free blade.

£60 is a mad amount to be charged for 2 Cairns (where i am anyway!) It would cost you half that if you were my customer! Why dont you see if you could just have them a dry cut every three months at the groomers i do alot of dry cuts for people who can bath their dogs themselves. I use Andis clippers around £200, blades around £20-30 per set and on a cairn you would use a #10 and normally either a #7f or a #5f. I think you'll find that you wont be happy with the cut you do yourself, most people who have a go to try and save money end up phoning me and saying help, i've made a mess of my dog!
