i would like a nice pair of nice, long lasting overreach boots (used for ridden work not turnout) that come in x-full size without costing me an absolute fortune :)

is there such a thing?! i was looking at the ones with sheepskin around them but do they not rub if they get dirty and do they even come in x-full or is the full size quite big? i need it to go over the beasts scar which is why i need x-full

also could do with a pair of knee boots for my youngster that dont flip up and actually go over the knee when bent :o

hoping for the impossible?

thanks for everyones help!

Can't help on the knee boots but I have found Woof Wear over reach boots really good. I have the "Club" boots as they have a stopper that sits behind the foot (between the fetlock and bulb of the heel) and it has worked really well as they have never twisted when in use. My TB has a medium but I believe that they go up to XL. Last time I bought a pair (about 4 months ago) they were around £23/25 - sorry I can't remeber exactly but they weren't any more. I also use mine for him when in the field as he is an accident prone lad, so I can also vouch for the fact that they are robust and last ages. The last pair lasted over 18 months with daily use in the field.

If you prefer Woof Wear also make a kevlar o-r boot but I have never tried it as they do not have the heel stopper.

thank you will go and have a look! i have never used ones with the stopper i usually use the rubber bell boots but they dont last long and dont offer that much protection in my opinion :) thank youu

We use Pro Choice Ballistic Overreach boots. They are really tough and hard wearing, and have a little bobble at the back so they can't slip round - which I think is very clever!

I really like the westropp over reach boots, they've lasted me a few seasons and didn't rub my mare when on 24/7 for a week :)

I have the eskadron sheepskin topped ones too. They have never rubbed, even when dirty(&my boy has quite sensitive skin). I've also used them for turnout. Washable on 40C. I don't like the ones with the little bobble inside-they have rubbed him before and have often spun round(therefore the bobble not doing what it's sposed to anyway).

I have the Woof Wear 'Smart' Over Reach Boots, I really like them! Good sheepskin on the edges, and a nice hard shell on the back so they protect properly, cost me £35! Only used them once as mare jerked herself and went lame but they were very smart and look very hard wearing.

I have just bought some dalmar over reach boots after horse managed a nasty over reach injury while jumping with the rubber ones on. I love them because they really tuck under the heel and have never moved or twisted since I got them. They also have carbon fibre strike pad so are very hardwearing! It depends on where exactly they need to cover as they aren't 'huge' boots, but my boy usually needs xl but their large size fits him nicely.

thanks everyone for the ideas! i cant have ones that are too shaped to a 'normal' horse foot as such as he has a scar where he removed the bulb of his heel and it sticks out a lot further than a normal foot :o which is why i need XL ones :) will look into the ones suggested and will try and find some to fit the baby pony too :)

I have tried loads of Over-reach boots and the only ones that are any good are TRIZONE. They come in extra-large and have ample room on my 16.2hh big hoofs. They are very tough and about £27 but will last several years.

KNEE BOOTS - get yourself a pair of Jeffries leather ones as again only thing that will actually work if your horse does go down. New they are very pricey but I got a fab pair second hand and hardly used on ebay for £15.

Also have invested (yep they're pricy) in woof wear overreach boots. Very impressed with them. Used for turnout on friesian with soup plate feet - the xl are big but exactly what I needed - can be a prob finding boots big enough. I've used petal boots but fitted 2 pairs of straps together in the past - but these can be fiddly if you are expecting other people to put them on for you.
Think woof wear are with the extra cash and I haven't had them pulled off or ripped yet.:):)
