I need some new brushing boots for George, he wears them for all exercise (but not in the field) as he can be a bit clumsy with his feet and does actually brush – particularly if he’s in a lazy mood and not going forward enough .

I have always used WW club boots as they fit well :), but I end up having to replace them every year as George goes through the neoprene below the strike pad and the strike pads start to wear :(. Can anyone recommend a set that will maybe be a bit tougher, problem is I can only stretch to £50 a set. I was looking at the MT ones and wondered what they were like?

Thanks. :)

Ah, was going to recommend woof wear when I saw the thread title! How about the premier equine ones? http://www.premierequine.co.uk/acatalog/Brushing_Boots.html The coating might help them last a little longer? Have premier equine boots and was suprised by how good the quality was for the price, they still look brand new despite being put through their paces!
You can also get woof wear ones with a larger strike pad too which might help? http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Brand/S...+Wear+Single+Lock+Brushing+Boots_440-0384.htm or kevlar coating (have the over reach boots like this and they are lasting pretty well) http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Brand/S.../Woof+Wear+Kevlar+Exercise+Boots_440-0029.htm

I've got a set of the MT ones that I bought at a MT demo and to be honest I've hardly used them as they are a tiny bit small for India's legs. the strike pad is really strong. I have used a set I got from Tesco about 2 years ago and they are still going strong!

I think they are fullsize, can check, but they are in excellent condition, I think I paid £25 a pair, but you can have them for £40 if you like :)

Hi

I have a pair of Sabre brushing boots, front and back, leather obviously and black for sale. They fitted my 16hh thoroughbred, and my 17.2hh Selle Francais. I'd be willing to accept £50 for both pairs, ill send some pics tonight if your interested

No one else got any recommendations before this thread slips into oblivion :D

Must say I love the look of the caldene ones, but not sure I can stretch to £28 a pair plus postage.

The premier equine ballistic ones look tempting - has anyone got any who can comment on their durability?

Thanks :)

The premier equ ones are lasting well (I have the fetlock boots too). They have suprised me how well they have lasted tbh as my mare beats them up and gets them filthy, then I just brush off or sling in the machine, then go again! They are looking smarter than oh woof wears atm.

I dont rate brushing boots. Why dont you buy a set of tendon and fetlock boots? the hard shell protects what really needs protecting and often they are only £30 a set or so.
Try the Roma competition pack, the JHL set, Masta Set or the Norton/Hampa pros.
They have double velcro and all the above are the same boot essentailly!

I have the Tri Zone ones and they have really lasted - reasonably priced and easy to care for. My horse brushes behind and destroys boots. WW ones lasted about 3 weeks before getting a hole in!

Whatever you do DO NOT buy the Derby House ones! I had to buy a new set as B managed to burst the strike pad with a hoof (he's still quite baby and needing to 'spread out' a bit, he's still quite close behind) and the only ones that didn't cost a bomb that I could get my mits on in time were the DH ones. Washed them once and the covering on the neoprene started to come away - not very impressed. And FWIW if B had had fetlock boots on instead of brushers that day he'd likely have had a 2" gash on his leg instead of a burst boot as it was above where a fetlock boot would have sat - sometimes a lot to be said for brushing boots even though they look very out of place at BS shows lol...

I have William Funnel/ Royston bushing boots and tendon boots and they are fantastic, lasted out hunting etc on my old pony who was quite clumsy lol and I jump my youngster in the tendon boots, got both lots new off ebay for quite a reasonable price.

Premier Equine - holding up very well and speedy delivery too. If you subscribe then you will also be told about their sales which is when I bought all my wraps (god send last year in the snow and sludge).

To defend the Woof boots though - the club boots aren't meant for heavy use, Woof do have sets with stronger strike pads but of course they are more expensive. I have used the club boots for working horses in that don't really need anything too heavy and when I have had more than one to ride, those boots are a darn sight quicker to put on them some of the others!

I have the trizone ones too. I don't wear them everyday though, only for jumping at home, but I've had them a good couple of years now and still wash up as new and no damage.

I would advise from personal experience that you try the double lock Woof Wear Kevlar Brushing Boots if you need seriously tough everyday boots. Mine have lasted years whereas the clubs ones (I got for the fluorescent straps) just don't last. I also like the Premier Equine boots but beware they are large sized if you get them. One of my horses has serious amounts of bone and still only takes a large! love the ventilation holes also like the trizones too for that reason but don't think they'd last so keep for XC/shows.

I like the mark todd brushing boots, have done my girl proud for the last 4 years, and only had to get another set recently when one disappeared somewhere into the ether... most miffed about that one as they still had loads of life in them.

I found these TriZone boots are rubbish if your horse actually brushes! I had a couple of pairs and they lasted my TB just a couple of months of daily wear, before the strike pad was in shredds.

But these TriZone brushing boots, with the hard plastic strike pad are much better and I've had them about 7 months so far and still are in good condition.
