Came back from a ride earlier and my hands were painfully frozen. I have gloves but they are bulky and still cold. Anyone know of some good ones for this weather?
north face micro fleece ones, i've found very nice and warm, though not waterproof unfortunately, but keep your hands super toasty! though you can layer them under some waterproof ones for the muckier jobs! i also found wearing latex surgical gloves underneath waterproof ones very good, keeps them very warm and adds an extra waterproof layer for the really really wet weather!
I got some Mark Todd pigskin leather ones with a thinsulate lining for xmas - they are really good, first time I've had "posh" gloves as I tend to lose them but my hands were getting so painfully cold. They are really good and not too bulky. (Can't imagine they cost the earth either as my aunt got me them for xmas along with a bottle of port and her present budget tends to be about £20 so logic says they aren't super expensive!)
ooh yeah LOVE my Mark Todd pigskin gloves, they're thermal and onto their 2nd winter. Think they were about £13. They're so good my OH got some for driving.
I wear Sealskin all weather riding gloves, they are waterproof and warm! brill gloves. For schooling i wear roeckl winter chesters. they have a fleece layer without being too bulky
I have the Roeckl wind-stopper ones. They're not really water-proof, but warm, and they're very slim-line with the Roeckl grip feel. I like very thin gloves too, and I think these are very good. They also have long cuffs, so my wrists stay warm, and there's no gap between my jacket and the gloves. Sadly, not cheap at nearly 40 quid.
I wear Roeckl Polartec winter gloves, they have a silicone palm on them for riding. They cost £20 and are very warm, long cuffs & comfortable, best gloves I've ever had!
MacWet Climatec or Windstopper. These are quite thin so offer excellent 'feel' but still kept my hands warm with all this cold weather.
This is the first time I've had MacWets & am totally converted! You can buy them from ebay or Surrey equestrian for approx £20 - so very reasonable.
Just realised you asked for thin - sorry, the MT Thinsulate ones are NOT thin, I will hack in them but not school as I don't have enough feel. The Mark Todd MacWets are what I school in
Sealskin are a dreamy pair of gloves. My hands have NEVER been cold and you can immerse them in frozen water and still have a dry glove! Awesome gloves.
