for my OH who is going to have his first ride soon! I already have a helmet for him from when Tesco's was selling them off cheap for £6.50 and I've got huge feet so he fits into my riding boots :p My friend has a bomb proof gentle cob who can carry up to 18 1/2- 19 stone and my OH is WELL under that.

He doesn't want anything too "thin" or revealing. Dark colors best. Low priced is good as i don't know how he will take to riding. He needs a 38L. Had a look on ebay but it's hard to tell the sort of fabric so maybe some of the men here will recommend some nice thick fabric ones.

Hopefully this will lead to my OH getting the bug and then you know what will happen then...2nd horse...getting a trailer and 4x4...

A girl can dream?

seem to remember there was a (hilarious) thread on here regarding best men's apparel for riding and the correct underwear is essential to stop things getting squished ;) not sure if this is the correct thread or not but sure it will have the info you need

Any actual advice is pretty much restricted to the first 10 posts, then it goes downhill...rapidly

My hubby and stepson both seem to prefer riding in jeans than jods.

I wouldn't buy him any until you know that he is going to enjoy it and take it up. It doesn't seem worth the outlay for his first ride - jeans or trackies would do fine..

My OH cringes at the thought of wearing jods. i always pull his leg and say I am going to treat him to a pair. Don't $$$$ bother is his reply. He always has ridden in jeans, not going to change his mind now.

Hmmm, I did think about jeans but was worried that the inside seams would cause rubs and put him off riding for good. I like the look of the Mark Todd ones though ;) For the past few days, he HAS been asking me if I bought him some jods yet. I did go into the tack shop today but got side tracked by a new bridle for showing, lol. Might have to go back tomorrow and see what they have in terms of men's stuff but I don't think it's a very big selection and I think they have mostly small waist sizes, so may end up having to buy off of the net.

Good point about pants, will have to have a poke round in the drawer to see what he has but I don't think he has anything "form fitting" as those ones on the Dragonfly website!

It's SO much easier shopping for women's riding clothes!

I have a pair of Rugged breeches...very comfy and not tight around the groin.

My first pair were an awful fit, so defo try before you buy.
I believe Mark Todd's are also good, but only ever found white ones in stock...hmmm, not for me.

Rugged also do a denim colour if he doesn't want to look to horsey.

I used to be a bit shy of wearing breeches and tried jeans for some time but ended up with bruises and chafing on the inner legs because of the seams.

MY OH swears by Mark Todd ones, he has had Harry Hall ones but they just didnt fit him as well. My only complaint with the MT ones is that they dont seem to last long, but he does abuse his clothes so it may not be a fair comment!

Whatever you get make sure they have a pleated front, flat fronted stretchy jods on boys is just a bit wrong! :)
