I know it sounds odd but I'm buying it online so can't feel the quality/suppleness. Don't want to buy something that turns out to be cheap and stiff as a board. My last one was an Aerborn Cushion one and thats really lasted well but they only do certain colours and I want plain dark green. Don't want to spend more than £12- £15ish and don't really want leather?

Thank you!!

Noooo go leather everytime!! So much safer than webbing/material ones. at least even if you buy cheap if you treat it well they supple up quickly.

Agree with hellspells after having loads of material ones and then leather i wouldnt have anything else but leather now - they last soooo long and its easy to keep them looking good.

I buy leather headcollars for £19.95 from my local Countrywide

- everyone thinks they are really posh cos they are leather

But since they are so cheap I dont get that stressed when someone on the yard uses it, their horse pulls back and breaks the headcollar...

, I just like them better than synthetic ones as they are safer (break more easily under pressure etc)

I have a large headcollar collection it seems.

Each have a leather headcollar - little one uses hers daily, then has a dually halter when shes a norty little brat.

Big one has a plain black nylon Cottage Craft one. This is the ONLY headcollar she doesn't remove out in the field. She wears a leather one for travelling, but frequently removes it if you don't watch her. Shes a royal pain in the backside to catch - five days is the record.

I also have an Aerborn cushion one, a spare leather one, a pink one, and multiple foal headcollars.

I like the ones with throat clips for trimming/clipping faces.

leather everytime. I bought 2 for £25 each but cant remember what make. They're really supple and clean up well and last years. I hate nylon headcollars, its one of my bugbears at the yard. Everyone has a selection of nylon headcollars in every colour possible then say leather ones are too expensive!

Agree with everyone! My horse used to have a grotty old nylon one, which cleaned well but was awful when he got really scared. There was a dog loose on the yard, which has a strict no-loose-dog rule (there's a sign and everything, cos we've had problems before) and when this dog came up to him and tried to bite his leg, the string broke on his lead rope so he got away, at which point he promptly got it caught on a bridle, which was attached to the wall! The leather bridle broke, but I was shocked that the nylon one was so poor in emergencies.
Sorry for that huge post, just had to share my little opinion! So yeah, leather every time. Countrywide have ones for about £20, which can start off stiff but treated well go lovely and supple. They look nicer too! x

I have a horseware one, i think its horseware, dunno really but I won it so thats what he wears

I only use leather for travelling and for shows, tbh i think they are only for good use!
