Recommendations for a Camcorder

Can anyone recommend a camcorder to buy for recording dressage tests and schooling sessions? My husband and I have decided to club together for our Christmas Present and buy one. If prefer one that can you can photograph individual stills from too and one that is easy to use as I am not very technically minded! What do you have?

I wanted one for exactly the same reason as the quality of the video on my hubby's digi camera was poor. I went for the Sanyo Xacti and am very pleased with it. The quality is good (HD), it has a 30x optical zoom and I have found it very easy to use. It also takes individual stills. Plus it is lovely and compact and easy to carry around. I found Amazon offered it at a very good price (just under £200).

i've got Sony H50 camera that can also do digital recording, have used it a lot and it is brilliant. can zoom in and out while videoing (many can't), up to 10x zoom, takes fab pictures too. highly recommended obv!
