Recommendations for English Springer Spaniel training books please :)

Hello!
Our sweet Springy Springer Bruno (14 months old) gets very excited about many things, and our come command is...lacking, to be gentle.

We want to get a good reference book for training, and want it to be breed-specific, matching the temperament and character of ESS.

We researched online and liked "No Brainer Dog Trainer" (Paul Allen Pearce) and also "English Springer Spaniel Dog Complete Owners Manual" (George Hoppendale , Asia Moore).

Does anyone have experience with either of these books, or another, and could kindly recommend one ?

Just to be clear, he is a show line, and will not be accompanying any hunts.
 
In which case he'll be a lot easier and lower energy than a crazy worker. It's still worth reading some gundog stuff though as that is the brain he is born with. Pippa Mattinson is also very good, positive trainer, gundog background but can be applied across all breeds. My daughters lab doesn't work but the gundog training that I do with my lab still applies to him, you can train using dummies and toys but you need to understand hom the gundogs mind works. All spaniels are members of the gundog group.
 
And maybe find a specialist gundog trainer. Even if he won’t work, the instincts are the same. Our trainer has 5 of her own and really knows her stuff. She gave us a focus and taught us to hone in on what the dog naturally wants to do and refine that. Ours are very responsive and obedient.
