Recommendations for mens yard/riding boots needed

Hubby is fed up with wearing short boots with chaps - he says just as the chaps get comfortable, the stitching goes. He's got some smart long leather riding boots but says these are too flimsy for yard work. He wants some sturdier boots for pottering around the yard, fetching in the horses through the mud, and riding too! They need to be long, waterproof, hardwearing and with a decent sole. What does anyone recommend?

He quite likes the look of my Ariat Grasmere boots - but I'm not sure if these are unisex or not??

I need to get some for Christmas - price under around £300.

HELP!
 
Ariat do a mens version its called the Rydal price seems to be around £255, can tell you how they wear though, mu OH wont let me buy him a pair, he lives in army boots (£25 a pair and last for ages) for yard work (we have 6 horses) and then he changes into long riding boots to ride.
 
Look at Tuffa's website. Their boots long boots are sturdy, waterproof and lined with sheepskin. Or you could try Equitector. Again tough and mostly waterproof/water resistant - they also have steel toecaps
 
My DH wears mountain horse high rider boots and has wellies for mud and mucking out. He doesn't like short boots at all. He then has regents for best.

Ariat do a gents version of the grassmeres and you can get dubarries for men too.

Zaccolbert - robinsons is ok for budget stuff for new riders etc. It tends to be on the cheap and cheerful side but most of the things do what they say on the tin. I would be careful to check what the boots are made of, robinsons and one or two of the cheaper brands do some leather look stuff with misleading names. It would also be worth looking for better brands on sale. Ride away is worth a look for mail order, or decathlon do cheap everyday gear that is ok, I've been pretty impressed with their budget jodhs and know people who have had boots from there and found them ok.
 
That's great Kat, thanks for the advice. Cheap and cheerful is ok as I'm just starting out but at the same time i don't want a pair that are going to disintegrate after a few rides. I'll probably check out decathlon and it sounds like it's worth investing in a better brand, cheers for the heads up.
