Morning all.
I am contemplating doing my B+E test, my mum has a suitable towing vehicle & ifor trailer and is happy for me to have a go when I go up to see her next week but as she is 120 miles away from me I can't rely on learning just through the odd lesson when I go up to visit!

Can anyone recommend somewhere either Surrey(ish) way, I'm in Woking, or if it's possible to do an intensive course somewhere in Warks/Leics (parents are near Coventry) as I can stay with them whilst I go if needsbe, somewhere up that way.
Also, are intensive courses the best way forwards, if so, how many days is best? (I have driven various vehicles before but never towed at all) Or is it possible to do weekly lessons like when learning to do normal drivers license?
Is there anything I should be looking for or asking when looking for somewhere to learn?

I'm off to trawl the many towing threads to see if there's any other info that's handy to learn but personal recommendations of somewhere for lessons would be really handy along with any other general advice :)

ONE IDEA - near M1/M69 junction
I believe their course is about £650 all inclusive with a first time pass and done over 3 half days with test on day 3

The B+E test
No medical or theory test required
Read a number plate from a certain distance
VIDEO - Show Me Tell Me Questions - usually 5
The next three can be in any order:-
VIDEO - Reversing Exercise - done in test centre grounds if test conducted from practical test centre - some tests are now being done from training school grounds
DSA REVERSING TEST AREA DIAGRAM
VIDEO - Uncouple/couple up - done in test centre grounds if test conducted from practical test centre - some tests are now being done from training school grounds
One hour road drive - includes the independent drive and is done virtually the same as the basic car test

SUPERVISING A B+E LEARNER
In April 2010 new rules were introduced for those supervising certain learner drivers but they only affected those supervising VOCATIONAL categories such as C1 C1+E D1 & D1+E where the supervising driver had those categories given to them for free when they passed a pre 1997 car test.
They do not affect those with a pre 1997 B+E licence who wish to supervise a B+E learner.
All B licence holders have B+E provisional on the paper part of their licence and can tow an empty or loaded trailer on all roads including motorways.
The usual rules apply when a learner is driving -
The supervising driver must be aged over 21
The supervising driver must have held a B+E licence for at least 3 years
L plates must be fitted to the front of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer
Correct insurance for a B+E learner

This is interesting, so if I had an appropriate supervising adult (& the right insurance) I could technically tow without doing my test, just not on my own? Worth bearing in mind for getting practice in, would still want to do my test tho as otherwise supervising adult may as well do the towing but useful to know, thankyou.
Will bear this in mind.

Do you know how much the test itself usually costs? £650 seems quite steep but maybe not so much if it includes the test fee. Plus I would rather go some-where recommended than pick somewhere at random.
3 (half) days seems quite a short period for learning to tow! (Considering it took me *cough* 18 months and 2 tests to pass my normal driving even with plenty of practice :s )

Will take a look at the one you've recommended as not far from my parents and if I can combine it with other visits up then not so bad to take time off work.
