I was hoping to get through until the winter before needing to replace my current pair of Hunters, but with this very wet weather and the fact my current pair leak, I may need to replace them sooner?

I have thin legs and find that most wellington's are too big around the calf and get pulled off going through boggy mud in the winter!

Hunter's are the best fit I've found to fit my legs, but they are not warm or particularly comfortable to wear for a long time. I've tried Muck Boots and didn't get on with them at all, really and Joules wellingtons aren't durable enough.

I'm happy to spend a decent amount (around £100, perhaps a bit more if necessary) providing they will be worth it and last more than one or two winters.

Recommendations please?

Hunters are useless these day! If you can afford them, Le Chameux (sp ?) are the bees knees. Warm, long lasting etc.. I'm just coming to the end of my muckboots which have fitted me fine and I do have skinny legs - they were the tall ones, but Le Chameux are on my want list now.

Le Chameau are the best but very expensive. Aigle do ladies wellies which are quite narrow at the top but have a thick chunky sole so not too slippery and keep your feet warmer than cheaper wellies.

I have Ariat wellies which I absolutely love, they're so durable, and also toasty warm - I don't need to wear thick socks underneath like I did with hunters. The calf width is pretty standard though , so you might be best trying some on to see how they fit if you were going to go down the ariat route. They have really good customer service & a guarantee too if anything was to go wrong. Loads of people swear by the le chameau ones, as suggested above, but I've got no experience with those.

The best boots I've had by far have been my Dunlop safety toecap wellies! I took the insoles out of my Muck boots which made them fit my feet better - as they're meant for big, strong men so more room in the foot than for a dainty laydee like meeee (I wish!)

I also wear a pair of those red welly bootee things which stop my socks falling down and rucking up under my feet (pet hate!) and they're actually really comfortable.

I've tried tried the neoprene Muck Boots in the past and sadly didn't get on with them at all - I found them very heavy in the foot and they rubbed quite badly if I wore them every day, which is a shame, as they certainly kept my feet warm!

I will look into both Ariat and Le Chemeau - it might be worth spending a bit more money than planned, if they are as good as people say they are.

had my Aigle for about 6 years and they are still as good as knew, have seem them in scats and they are about £130 now, but worth every penny! have been for a 5 mile walk in them this morning and they are sooooo comfy!
