Can anyone recommend one that is good and sturdy for transporting your saddle about/storing it etc, and won't force the shape of it at all when you zip it up.

I really want a bag, instead of just a cover, and yet when I bought the shires one I couldn't do it up without really forcing the saddle together (not clever!) and as I'm about to go for an even wider, and brand new, saddle I think I need another one....

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

there's a type of big canvas one, in a creamy colour. no idea what make but it's very large and doesn't force the saddle into a shape. sorry, can't be more helpful at the moment but i know there is such a thing on the market. my dressage trainer uses one to bring saddles over to be altered in Walsall.
maybe try Jeffries or someone... i know they make canvas goods.

Oh, that's hopeful. All of the ones I've seen on ebay seem to force them like the shires one, and I'd be worried about doing that... Do you think if you get a chance you could pretty please find out and let me know?

I'd really appreciate it.

I've got to buy two new saddles

and I want to wrap them in cotton wool and pack them away safely

Unfortunately, to get the most out of them, I understand I have to actually take them to the yard....

Isn't it

It said it would be large enough for an 18", but my GP is only a 17" and I struggled to get it in. Then when you try to zip it up you have to force the saddle too much. It's mildly easier without the stirrups on, but what a blooming hassle that is!

I have ended up carrying it with it undone, but the amount of protection etc that gives I'd be better off with just a nylon cover

Very disappointing!

LOL!! That would be awesome, thank you

Else I shall be trying to cotton wool line a blanket

I have seen a stubben one on ebay, which is cream, maybe that would be the one....?

i've had a quick look on Jeffries website, and there are contact details. i know they make all sorts of canvas products (shooting bags etc) so i think i'd give them a call and ask if they make what you're looking for.
i've been there a few times and they were amazingly helpful and nice.
or, what about this

this is the same sort of style as my trainer's one, and they say it's big enough to carry 2 saddles. not expensive either... not sure if they ship to u.k. i just googled "saddle carrying bag" and that's the first one that came up.

I agree - the Shires one is awful!! I don't think it's any use unless you have a narrow saddle. My 17 1/2 inch wide wouldn't even go in.

My friends Aerborn one is a bit snug too - It takes her 10 minutes to get it on the saddle!

Well my saddle was narrow/medium at it was not comfortable in there...
