Recommended Resources for East Mids

I thought it might be an idea to have a thread for people to put links to or details of good resources for East Midlands folk. Things like bridleways groups, BHS branches, horsewatch groups, places to access details of hacking routes or whatever.

Keep it within the forum advertising rules though folks.

I picked up a couple of good leaflets about off road circular hacking routes in Erewash the other day. They were council publications and you can get them in the library I think. I'm going to see if I can find a similar leaflet for Amber Valley next time I pass a library that is open or maybe tourist information would have them.

I have used this site for information about bridleways and trailer parking in Derbyshire. Pennine Bridleway I can highly recommend the parking facilities at Hartington Station. Really good, running water, hitching rail, gated parking, shelter, massive mounting block, ice-cream van. And the Tissington Trail is lovely to ride on.

how did you know that I can't reverse my trailer and have to park it by unhitching and pushing

Sounds fun, my mare is also traffic proof, I have transport but it only goes forwards so ROG will have to come to the meet.

Its about 18 miles of offroad riding around the Stapleford Estate - tracks around the fields/golf course etc all well marked - the lanes are pretty quiet round here anyway but all you have to do it cross them occaisionally depending on which route you take you can be out for a good 3/4 hours

You can either 'join' for unlimited use - most of the locals do that obviously - or you can 'rent' a hatband for the day to use - i think its 6 or 7 quid for the day - and get unlimited use for the day My yard is in the middle of it and the YO lets lorries/trailers park there for a few quid - totaly safe and you can use the hoses etc Also a pub in the village is you wanted 'refreshments'

I can give you YO number to book hatbands etc if you want

Broombriggs Farm in Loughborough area is really nice short one. 4 or 6 miles depending if you go through the farmers cow field or not, Hannah

No worries about tractors on the TROT - if they are around you just go a different way and they are huge fields
