Carolyn Johnson is based at Rock near Alnwick. She will come to you or you can go to her - she has an indoor school.
Her website is not bang up to date but has contact details on

http://www.paragonequinesolutions.com/

She specialises in WOW saddles but does fit pretty much all makes and models and her hubby can adjust them.

Second Andy Wheals - you may have to wait to get him but he is in the area quite a bit and well worth waiting for. Has made a huge difference to horse/saddle.

I'll third Andy! I think he comes every other week now but seems to have long waiting list which must say something about how good he is! I've always found I don't get him on the phone but if I leave a message or text he generally rings me back within a few days. :)

I second stirlingshire.. had them a few times, very happy. Much cheaper than other mobile saddlers. I have had no problem with Chris from jobsons either, but you need to lose your saddle for a week!

I used AN Other saddler mentioned on here once as he was on the yard at the time and I was definately not chuffed with the service....

Heard good things about Jobsons too :)

Looking to get my saddle checked, anyone recommend a saddler?

Thinking of using simply saddles?

Recently used Priory Saddlery (Lizzie) who fixed me up with a saddle. Very nice person and was able to provide me with a saddle for a young horse. Our young horse thinks the saddle is a great improvement on previous saddle (which I know didnt fit too well). Very particular and takes time with you. Would definately recommend.

Andy Weals is definitely worth the wait. Once you get him at your stables he makes any adjustments there and then if its a re-fit. He has everything he needs in his van.

He's a lovely guy (and easy on the eye) ;)

The only saddlers I'd use and recommend are Chris from Jobsons and John from Nothumbrian Saddlery. I've had my mare for nearly 5 years and ever since i started using these 2 (about 3 and a half years ago) i've never had any problems. Prior to that i tried numerous saddlers all of which were AWFUL. Only one has been mentioned on here but i have heard of a lot of problems with quite a few local saddlers who 'claim' to be quailfied. My horses back was so bad i couldn't even get on her without her trying to throw me off - and this one is qualifed! He put my mare in a medium/wide saddle. She's now in an XW and it fits her perfectly.
