I have found a great site called - map my run - It allows you to enter data by clicking points on a google map and it allows you to check the miles / km covered when running, riding, walking ect.
I have been having gret fun entering the details of my regular rides.
It also has a feature that allows you to share the details and maps with friends.
I am sure this would also be a useful tool for local bridleway groups.
I will be sharing it with mine.

Off i trot to enter some more details of bridleways know.

Lol ~I did that the other month. Our 'short' hack we'd have a canter most the way round actually was 7 miles all in!

And our annual 'long day hack' totalled at 27 miles nearly!!!

You can get an app for your phone and it will map you as you ride.. It's surprising how far you can go without realising!

For anyone who has an android or smart phone have a nosy for the endomondo app, it records speed, distance, time out and calories burnt (for the rider ;))

I use endamondo on my android phone. Its s similar thing, you set what sport you are doing and it logs where you go and also calculates the distances and colories burned.

I'm not sure, I have unlimited usage in my price plan so have never really worried about it. I wouldn't have thought so as all it uses is your GPS system so it knows where you are.

I use walkjogrun.net which sounds similar but gives you altitude too so you can see how big the hills are! I used it to map out the local hacking routes for our liveries

Sounds very similar, this site does the altitude too and also gives time taken, average speed ect.
I have added more rides now as the lady down the road has just moved to the area as asked if i can print the rides off so she can follow the map.

i use runkeeper on my iphone. You can set it to give you updates for example every 10 or 20 or 30 mins of how long you've been out and distance covered.
