Recovering from laminitis and having a fitting for hoof boots by the vet

Hello my horse is recovering from 5% rotation and just had his hoofs trimmed right back, but is still sore a few weeks on from trimming and 2 months diagnosis. My vet is now suggesting hoof boots to see if they make him more comfortable to enable him to get a little turnout in a dry paddock. Apparently I can rent them and just wondered if anyone had done the same as waiting for my next visit and wondering if purchasing would be better than renting , thanks

Cavallo boots are good for turnout I would just get a second hand pair ebay always have some, just go a bit bigger then you can use a foam padding in them for extra comfort.

I would just buy them too. I used a combination of floor mats (the sort that are interlocking foam) and yoga mat cut to size and my pony wore them for around 4 months I think. They made a huge difference to comfort. I used Equine Fusion Ultra and they didn't rub or move at all for turnout.

But don't buy them from your vet unless you want to remortgage your house to pay for it!

I use Equine Fusion Active Jogging boots. A friend got her Shetland’s boots via the vets - I think they came from America and cost a fortune!

I used cloud boots, my insurance were happy to pay for them too. They made a huge difference for my mare.
