Am about to have cast removed after breaking both bones behind the wrist of my right arm.

Never having broken anything before, can any peeps give me an idea of what to expect when it comes off on Friday. Did people require much or any physio? What realistically will I be able to do, can I expect to be able to ride immediately?

Am trying not to get too excited at being free of this blasted thing but am hopeful I can do things cause at the moment I am slowly going crazy!!

I broke my arm a number of times but it was mainly on the elbow so i had a cast going from my knuckles to the top of my shoulder! I didn't require physio as it was a break not any muscle damage. Your wrist will feel sore and it will hurt to move it as it has been immobile for a while. Take it gently and give it a few days when you feel it feels better then hop on and go for ride but don't do too much as it will stress your arm. Most doctors will probably say take at least 1-2 weeks before you ride but i never did that and just rode when I felt I was better. For the record I have had over 20 casts on my foot due to an extra bone and had about 6 on my arm! So I am quite an expert on this ;)

Haven't had an arm cast but had multiple leg casts - it feels really weird when you first get it off. Expect to have very little muscle and it will take a while to come back.
I wouldn't ride right away except on a very solid thing that needs very little rein. Give it a few weeks to allow your muscle to re-develop and you'll get used to using it again. It will be pretty stiff.
If they will give you some then physio is good as it will speed up muscle development and mobility.
