Hi,

im going cubbing for the first time on friday! very excited!!

So as my horse has never hunted, i believe i should have a green ribbon.
Also my horse has been known to kick out very rarely, mainly because she is blind on the left. So I should have a red ribbon.

Is it ok to have both a red and green ribbon in her tail or is that overkill??

any advice would be great!

To be honest, I used to use both green and red with my TB. He would kick out if someone used him as a brake and he was also young and inexperienced. It meant that people really did take care not to crash into him. If you aren't sure what the horse might do, it is far better to warn people as much as possible especially if, by any chance, they do end up getting kicked. You can't say you didn't warn them!! I'd say red and green and then you are covered for all eventualities.

I took a young unknown horse hunting for his first time and spoke to the field master/secretary, I said I think I will put a green and red in just in case! She was mortified and said nooooooooooooooo put a green only in, ppl will know hes green and to not crowd him, don't you dare label him as a kicker until you know he is one!!!!!!

So we went in a green only, and ppl were great didn't crowd him etc, apart from the terrierman on his quad, his wife said mind that green horse, don't go too close... he said nahh the bugger has to learn sooner or later and went zooming past lol... luckily we hack out with a quad!!

Have fun XX
