Hi, having a problem with my girl again - she has been accutely suffering from bad back (saddle area in particular) for a few years, presumably through mistakes made in her younger life before me - ruled out kissing spine and other spinal problems a couple of years ago with scans - and since been able to manage her with back specialist who has done a great job but now at a point where she has got worse again.

Think it is to do with the weather, she got a bit skinny at the end of winter, etc etc, while generally having issues anyway.

Anyway, together with back man I have now worked out that it may be best for her to have a couple of months off, gets a course of bute through her by the vet, then she will be treated again by back person (if not earlier) and hopefully she will be able to get some sun on her back in the meantime too.

Now, in lack of natural warmth I am wondering if I should get a red light therapy lamp anyone ever used this on their horse?

Do you mean like a heat lamp used for reptiles/chicks/whatever? or am I completely off?
Someone told me to stitch some tin foil on to the inside of my rug, over the sore area of back when I was having trouble with my horse's back. I never tried it, so no idea if it works but I think the theory behind it was that the heat would be reflected back to the horse and warm the muscles?
