Very proud mummy moment at the weekend.
Entered Ruby in a little charity companion dog show just for a laugh really anyway we walked away with a red first place rosette :D

(I will quietly add that there was only 2 in her class and in fact the judge couldn't decide so we came joint first lol still all for charity and we just don't mention that bit to people! :p)

Also the whole thing was a fairly low key affair but there were some very serious people competing, needless to say which all took the top spots which is fair enough as the dogs were stunning and behaved as they should showing but just felt a little sorry for the 'average joe's' is this a common thing? I mean I've seen it at horse shows with what I call 'pot hunters' but never occurred it would happen in the dog showing world.

Well done Ruby!!! :))))

I've witnessed serious people at these charity shows too. I think it's quite cut throat in the Show Dog world from what I understand and my parent's experience of many years ago.

Well done you and Ruby! :)

I could be accused of being a super-serious companion dog show competitor. :o The reality is that my dog is a non Kennel Club registered rescue so these are the only shows we can do, despite him appearing to be a pedigree dog - I bought him a nice show lead and taught him to (mostly) stand the right way, things that anyone could do at very little cost.

I started taking him because he has ishoos with other dogs - nervous, not aggressive - and it was a fantastic way to socialise him. Lovely rosettes and prizes were a bonus, we're not good enough yet to win anything in our other disciplines (agility and sled dog racing). He won a month's worth of James Wellbeloved a while back which I was very glad of. :p

Well done, Ruby! Any pics? ;)

I am fast turning into a serial companion show competitor too, as our little BT Katy has won 3 x 15 kg sacks of food so far (we only got her in April!). This will keep our two going for about 9 months! She is paying for her keep alright! ;)

Well done Ruby, we definitely need photos. :)
BC I don't think you fit the pot hunter category, the ones I have slight issues with are the ones who turn up with several cages of dogs, often with their affix plastered all over their blankets etc.

I have our 'affix' laser-cut onto the centre plate of my new rig. :o

If R gets his third best in show this year I will declare him a CDS champion and retire him gracefully. :p
