I have had an email from someone in work today. A friend of a friend has a grandfather with altzimers (sp) he also has a very overweight 9 year old red setter, the family are going to take it to be put to sleep this week unless a new home can be found.

I litterally know no more than that sorry but will try and find some more info out.

Does anyone have any details of any specific rescues or any other rescues who may be able to help? We are in South Wales.

Many thanks

Adele

Poor bloody dog :( Can't believe none of his family could look after it and that is their only solution. So glad the poor man doesn't know what may happen to his friend. Ok, so 9 isn't that young but surely they could try a bit harder. I'd have thought if no breed rescue can help then the dogs trust may be able to lend a hand? I hope to god if anything happened to me I could count on my family to look after my animals. Things like this makes you think about what you do have in place for your animals should something happen to you.

Hope something can be done for this poor dog.

I guess I hadn't considered if the dog had health problems as then it would be more understandable but it doesn't sound that way. Hope your friend comes up trumps. I hate seeing these oldies in rescues to be honest even though I know the rescues do all they can, it must be such a shock for an older dog.
