So new rising 4 year old mare has unknown worming history, she was imported from the Netherlands in January, and I got her mid Feb (4 weeks today!). On arrival I collected a sample and sent off for a FEC, and wormed right away with equest pramox to cover all bases. Loads of red worm came out, and then FEC results came back as medium count, 300 epg (which felt low compared to what I was seeing in poo!).

Fast forward to this week, so 3.5 weeks after worming, I've spotted a few redworm in her poo again. I haven't been religiously checking her droppings, but will do now. Am I just seeing the spring emergence of some that may have been missed? Hoping not as resistance to pramox a bit worrying. Going to do another FEC as soon as my pot arrives, and presumably worm again??? Panacur 5 day or?? My head is a bit 🤯 as not seen redworm in droppings since maybe the early 90s when we rescued a pony in terrible condition.

I bought in a yearling that was passing redworm, the most I have ever seen. The vet gave me a regime to worm him every two weeks for about two months.
