Has anyone got a picture of a red worm(not out the book or internet) Just one they took picture of . I was depooing tonight and found a small worm reddish about just under 2 inches more like 1 inch and tried to rake it up but disappeared into soil.

Small redworm? Large are much less common I believe. There were a lot smaller than your description I think.Screenshot_20220330-212554_Gallery_compress96.jpg

I get lots of red worms of about that size in my compost heap, perhaps it was just one of those ‘regular’ worms? That would perhaps make more sense if it went back into the ground. I will try and get a pic of my compost worms tomorrow, but dark now!

Wow Milliepops, how is this horse now with that infestation, that is huge worm burden
Absolutely fine. Actually this was from moderate count c300 epg which the horse returned on and off throughout they year, with a similar expulsion of worms 36 hours after worming each time. We seem to be on the other side of that now.

One of mine had a similar result after trying Equest and - something else, I've forgotten what - it was Eqvalan that sorted him out in the end.
Egg counts had been clear throughout!

Also small redworm, in a rising 2yo connemara. Had never been wormed until around 18months.

My cob had a similar burden to Milliepops' picture when he came to me. I was told he'd been wormed, but I forgot to ask what with and they emerged about two weeks after he arrived (early March). He's never had it since, thankfully!

the horse that produced the poop in the pic above had received equest a few weeks before coming to me and joined my poo picking/FEC programme so had no obvious reason to keep building up these worm burdens (other than the thing about some horses just being more prone to it than others). the other horse in the field was pretty textbook no eggs seen at the same time. There was a thread on here at the same time with another who had wormy droppings not very long after routine equest, i shared some more updates on that thread.

When my welsh cob arrived she had a sky high count in the several thousands and even she didn't produce anything like this, it really was quite odd :p

I've seen some horrific amounts of redworm in Fell ponies I've bought off the fells. Wormed and then produced piles of poo with more redworm than poo. All been fine though, probably never been wormed before. These have been adult ponies but a yearling I got and wormed was full of ascarids and the droppings were like a nest of snakes with foot long worms.
