I have the possibility to redesign our yard next year with a bit of inheritance.
We already have a 21 horse livery yard with nice out door arena and post and rail fencing.

I have decided to spend some money doing up the yard next year. We are wanting to add a indoor arena and a few more stables, then just tidy up what we already have.

I was wondering, for those that have already designed things, or just like fantasy shopping, what would you feel was important. What design features did you find important, like drains in certain places, etc. Or just what do you find nice!!

Any input would be nice, as at the moment it is a bit of a dream with a pen and paper!! :)

From a general day to day perspective, anything that makes life easier... Such as hardcore in all the gateways, proper paths to the fields, automatic waters in the paddocks.

From a dream perspective...the list is endless!!!
Indoor school with mirrors
All weather turnout paddocks
Solarium
Heated tack room with rug drying racks
Industrial washing machine
Covered, oval-shaped horse walker
Round pen
Oh I could go on and on and on and..... :)

I'd roof everywhere with solar panels and get the feed in tarrif money. Has been a fab investment for us. Worth considering anyway. Solar power water heaters and a proper wash down area & somewhere with a trap so it doesn't bung up to wash out bowls etc

All weather canter track
Hot water- to a wash bay and also in the tack and feed rooms
Hay steamer
Rug, saddle and bridle rack outside each stable
Some cross country fences
Complete Course of show jumps including fillers, brush and water tray
Dressage boards
Said I could go on and on and on....! ;)

Indoor arena that has access from outside but also has a passage down the side with stables on the other side of the passageway and an entrance to the school, incorporating a wash down area at the end of the stables and tack room. All the stables having outside windows too for extra ventilation. No need to ever experience the outside world! (instructor in Portugal has this type of set up)
