So I'm heading to the Great Yorkshire Show with the sheep in the horsebox. Haven't been there before but if the RHS is anything to go by I doubt we will be parked close to a tap so I was wondering if those of you who stay away in the truck have a back up plan for refilling your water tank?

I know caravan people use the water containers but how do you transfer the water from the container to the water tank?? Do you use a siphon? if so, which one? or do you use a funnel? how do you lift the container as it would kill my back?

Any ideas gratefully received. don't want to run out of water and have no idea how to refill the tank!!

Cxx

PS: I know they aren't horses but I am very thrilled and have to say we won champion Hebridean at the RHS :D Very Very chuffed as we won champion with our aged tup, won the shearling tup class and came 2nd in the shearling ewe class :D :D

Lovely sheep!!!

My water tank keep me going for ages, never had to refill it (but only stayed away for 3 nights at a time). I have seen people with a bit of cut off hose with a funnel attached to it, then pour bucket of water down the funnel. Can't think of any other way to do it?!

Cool sheep - lovely prizes.

Our water tank has lasted us whilst we have been away but that is prob max of two nights. The caravan tanks you see people filling connect straight onto the water supply to the caravan, they don't fill another tank from them (or at least that is my experience of having twice stayed in a caravan!).

Go down the submarine style shower approach of 30 seconds water or whatever it is they are allowed!

I have a very long hosepipe:D

If you have to use a container get an aquaroll then to fill the tank roll the damned thing up the ramp first and use a long siphon tube out through the window into the tank.

Nice sheep:D

Yay I love your sheep!!! Well done - sounds like great success at RHS. Good luck at the next one.

Sorry I have nothing to offer re water help, not having a lorry!

I have a pump which attached to the cigarette lighter in the cab and can pump water from either a container or a bucket into my tank. Just remember to have the lorry running when you do this so you don't run down the battery!! You can get one of these quite cheap at any good caravan shop or no doubt online
