My TB has prominent withers and it seems his saddle has become very low on his withers and down thru the front of his backbone - his saddle is a Falcon hawk event bought new last summer it was quite a good fit then but obviously he has changed shape and it is due for reflocking - can reflocking alter a saddle enough Can pads of some sort help ? Their is about 2 fingers worth of clearance at the pommel with me sat on it with no pads and if i slide my hand in the pommel the gullet actually sits on the bone where my hand goes in at the knuckles if that makes sense

Any opinions appreciated as i am loathe to spend another £1000 on another saddle if their is another option .

a tempoary fix is a pad.. were getting rid of one which takes the pressure off the withers if you want it?

I would get it reflocked before you think about getting another saddle, have just had mine reflocked and it has brought it up enough to clear his withers, and my boy is 28 and changes shape every summer and winter cos it is so hard to keep weight on him in the winter

its a wither pad, but its like a really extream one. ill get a picture tomorrow and show you. we had the same problem and it was fine. added about another inch or so betweeen wither and saddle and took off the pressure points.

Having it reflocked will quite likely make it fit properly again, but once done, get it checked a month later, as the new flocking will settle down a bit again.

If your saddle was brand new you should of had been advised that it would need some flock putting in it after just a few months of use.The flock in a new saddle will settle very quickly, and a free flock and check should of been part of the deal when you bought it.
If you have to use a pad in the meantime, try a prolite riser pad.
