Sorry thought id start a new thread as its moved down the list!!!

Well thanks for everyones replies. I know people have voiced their concerns about towing with a freelander but i must stress i my horse is ONLY 105 KG !!!!

The reason i ask is that i am considering buying a show trekka Equitrek trailer unladen weight 1280kg and wondered whether my car would legally tow it????

I'm sorry i got slightly confused by some of the replies ( Im blonde )

Your best bet really is to take a look in your manual or contact LandRover and find out what the car's towing capacity is. Add up the weight of the trailer and the weight of the car, then see where you are.

In answer to your question, yes, it would be legal. Well within max tow weight and also under the gross weight. I'm sure Snowbomb said she already has a Freelander.

What settings have you got for viewing posts? I think you may have it by the date it was created, rather than the latest post, and you can change that in your user settings

You need to check with landrover about your Freelander's towing capacity. I think it is approx 1800kg to 2 tonnes. The gross weight of a Show trekka is 2600kg, but as Inky is so small, obviously you wouldn't ever get up to the gross weight, however I definitely would not tow an Equitrek with a Freelander. I know various people with Equi-treks - they tow with Discoverys, Izuzu Troopers, etc. I have seen the trailers get stuck even when towing with these vehicles. Equitreks are big trailers and you really do need something big to tow with.
