So I have the choice of Hickstead, Keysoe or Bury Farm. Pro's and con's of each venue please and which you would choose. Will be my first regionals. Thank you!

I'm undecided between the same venues. Bury Farm is the closest for me and the one I wanted to go to, but my class is on a Monday and as it's mid-summer holidays I'm unable to get the day off. Keysoe is also close to me but also on a Monday in August which isn't great, but Hickstead is on a Friday in July which is better.

I've been to all three venues and none of them are spooky and all have big warmup areas, so it depends what you are looking for? Loads of parking at Keysoe and Bury Farm. When I went to Hickstead the parking was on grass. but I think that's the only negative. From memory Keysoe and Hickstead did arena walks, but I can't remember whether Bury Farm do them too.

My horse is fairly spooky with the edges of arena, as long as boards are a little way in he copes fine. Hickstead is my closest but dates aren't great for me, pretty local and my horse goes well there. Will probably stay for the night before at Keysoe or Bury so if either is better that could sway me either way! Not been to either of the others before, Keysoe is stating area walks whereas Bury hasn't mentioned them

When I have been there, Keysoe regionals tests have been in the massive outdoor - so you'll have two or three test arenas next to each other and the judges are in huts. It isn't too spooky on a normal day, but it does get busy at regionals and the veranda is right next to the entrance to the test arenas. I had the joy of a child waving a schooling stick in the air at my horse (who isn't keen on sticks) once when I was trying to get in the arena (not regionals day), just bad luck but annoying!

If the only thing putting you off Bury is the arena walks it might be worth emailing them, they're really helpful there.
