Due to personnal problems we have not had the best preparation for the regionals but we set off this morning.
When we got there we realised that we had put my daughter's jacket in the cleaners last week and we both forgot to collect it, so she had to squeeze into her old jacket. Then we went to put tape around her boots as the zip undoes and found there was only 2" left on the roll. The saddler didn't have any so we had to use white tape! This looked awful. I had also put her silky stock on as normal and it is too short and came out and flapped about. So all in all she looked a mess.
He warmed up fine and the steward asked if she would go in ahead of time , she agreed , the steward said can you go in now . please. She went towards the arena and the young girl before her had saluted and was down by C on a long rein walk and turning right, my daughter entered and went to the left to keep away . Suddenly there were shouts behind me 'Why is she going in, my daughter has not finished, tell her to get out' I turned to the lady and said' She was told to go in by the steward and the test is finished anyway' .The lady started waving the test sheet in my face and saying she does not finish until she leaves the arena at A. I told her the marks finish after the final halt , there are no more mark but she started accusing us of ruining her daughter's test. With that the steward said sorry and also that my daughter was in the wrong arena.[They were running the same test in two arenas]
The lady was still shouting at us as our horse came out and went to the next arena. This rider was only just finishing so my daughter waited , a lovely lady with this rider told her to go in. We explained we had just be moaned at and she said she heard and it was supposed to be fun , go in.
Anyway he did a good test , not his best but not his worst, very accurate but not as forward as he can be due to no whip we feel.
We put him away met up with Teffy [ his breeder ]and Jlav, which was lovely.
Bit disappointed with his score of 63% as he had been getting 70% plus in novice lately and this was prelim. but regionals are difficult to get good marks and it just wasn't to be today.
So we had a go but no prizes today.

What a horrible experience - people can be so rude! My daughter (11) was at her first PC Champs yesterday and having been told by the steward to go down to her arena which was beyond the nearest two arenas (if you see what I mean), a woman started calling her a "STUPID CHILD" for riding between the two nearest arenas. They were about 10m apart with a row of flower pots halfway between them so you had to go one side or the other of the pots, but either way you weren't that close to the arena edge: frankly if the person doing the test couldn't cope with a 13.2 pony riding quietly past 3m away she shouldn't have been there!! I was steaming for poor daughter who was nervous and overwhelmed enough as it was! Sorry - don't mean to hijack your post but its another illustration of how people's rudeness and ignorance can ruin your day

Well done for having a go anyway - hope next year's go better

Aw - make a model of the old trollop and stick pins in it!

At least you were there and had a go, and 63% is a perfectly respectable regional score. Have you got your sheets yet? Maybe he is working in too advanced an outline for Prelim now?

Oh dear - how unpleasant for C, not the best thing to happen just before you go in for a test. It's a shame that people get so wound up they forget their manners but well done anyway.
BTW, spoke to Rosie's Mum earlier and although they hadn't yet walked the course, she said that those who had reckon the people at Draycott have made a tremendous effort and the course is looking great - more info if/when I get it.

We walked course yesterday (although we got thrown off in the end as it wasn't really open

) It wasn't completely flagged but you could see it, and it looked fantastic but plenty strong enough! Wouldn't want to have scraped a qualification - the last water looks like a decent 1* test to me (much tougher than Hartpury waters) Good luck to everyone going

Grrr, horrid woman!!!

I think they mark harder at the Regionals (this year was my first year and we competed Prelim), so well done for the result and I hope the %?*&^£ woman didn't spoil your daughter's day

O poor you. Some days- just nothing goes right!!! Some people are just so rude!
But having read lots of your posts, it seems that you do have much better times. And bad days just make good days seem all the more worthwhile!!
I am sure the next good day is just out there waiting for you!
I hope your personal circumstances get sorted.... xx

Oh carthorse, your post did make me smile, sorry.
blush.gif

I have done the jacket thing too! Went to collect jacket from cleaners on the Sat pm before regional on Sunday, only to find it was half day closing!
frown.gif
Had to borrow from a friend but unfortunately it was at least one size too small!

Sorry to hear about the obnoxious woman.......shame C wasn't in uniform!
My friend Kate got similar treatment once when she went to pick up my whip that I'd discarded before starting the test. Now my friend doesn't move very quickly due to a hip replacement but this woman was so adamant that she'd ruined her test that you'd have thought she'd been running and jumping about, waving said whip in the air!
I do think nerves bring out the worst in some people.

Sorry also to hear that Rafi didn't score as well as usual but you wouldn't rather take any other horse home from the show would you? He's special and there's always another day.

We're leaving at 6am tomorrow for Addington.

Amongst many others we've got Garry Williams and Showmaker in one of our classes!!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

It was so great to see you and Claire again.

As you know the other Jane (perhaps we should just call her TOJ

) and I thought Rafi's test deserved better marks but there you go that's dressage.

At least you got there!!

Hopefully he'll qualify for the Petplan at Novice instead.

Hope everything works out ok for you all and that it won't be too long before we get to meet up again.

Good luck tomorrow Bananaman.

Sadly my little horse didn't get to Addington today as her owner had a phone call, just as she was about to leave, to say her father-in-law had had a heart attack and was in hospital so we had to withdraw.

I hope you kicked the horrid woman!

[/ QUOTE ]

I gave her my best EVIL glare and told her to go and talk to the collecting ring or secretary if she had a problem and not to yell at spectators... then waltzed off so she couldn't reply but she was still yelling when I got to the next ring I don't think it worked... silly woman only made a spectacle of herself!!

[ QUOTE ]
Saw MatB's test, but missed you totally

Well... I think Teddy should have been awarded a special prize for the most original enter at A, at X halt and salute, it was waaaaaaaay more interesting than anyone elses
wink.gif

Poor Ted didn't have a good regionals either, he had bumped his head the day before but he looked fine to go, it was a little puffy above his eye but didn't seem serious. I saw it when he arrived and wasn't worried about it, a few minutes before he went into the arena he started throwing his head up and when he went in he trotted down the centre line and when asked to halt at X he threw his head in the air and spun round, Mat 'tried' straightened him up and took his hat off to salute and Ted had another spin, he then settled and did a nice test but Mat kept him long and low rather than gather him up, so he got his lowest score ever
frown.gif
(his sheets basically said he'd resisted at halt and he needed to be more uphill but we knew that anyway), anyway when he came out the ring his eye looked puffier and when he got back to the box he had a minor nosebleed and his face seemed to be swelling up suddenly, so Teds got taken home almost straight away to find out what was wrong
frown.gif
(this ment Teddy and Carthorse's Rafi couldn't have their brothers photoshoot this time... maybe next time!)

So please send healing vibes to Teddy, I hope he is better today Mat!

Sorry to hear about all of this, really pleased that I stick to jumping, but must say that I apologised to a French rider last week, I slightly cut him up, he was charming....so I might do it again.

Damn Carthorse we were at Addington yesterday as well ... how come I always seem to miss EVERYONE. We had black tape on us too.....

Im sorry it didnt go too well. We were very disappointed as Gen did a nice test and ended on 65% (one judge loved him for 70%!!!). Really really pleased with Gen and Mike tho and we wont let this get us down.

As for the daft bl@@dy woman ... get back out there again so you can meet her and bash her with the test sheet nxt time.

As said before we wouldnt have wanted to take ANY of the other horses home would we.
