Please help, I am a bit confused. I have a RID gelding and I want to show him. Having looked at the entry details for the ID North West show, it says in the in hand section, under Irish Draft Gelding ' 4 years and over identified Grade 1 on IDHS (GB) Register'.
My understanding of geldings with both mare and stallions as RID's that the gelding is automatically 'Identified' but I don't know where the grading bit comes from.
Any ideas ? Thanks.

no idea but would like to know too as I have just bought one!! is yours registered with the GB society? how do you do that??

Yes, just doing the in hand pure bred class. Horse 6 but about a year behind in education and canter is all a bit wobbly. Won't be ready in time to do ourselves any justice, but next year is definately on. Plus, I am totally new to showing. Just want to get a view on whether its something to pursue and thought going to a breed show was the best way to get an objective opinion. He's beautifully bred, but whether he himself is show quality only time will tell.

I've checked with the ID society. As a RID he is automatically indentified as grade 1 gelding. To be a RID both parents must also be RID's. And if you have a filly or a colt you can apply to have them graded for breeding purposes. If you have a part bred eg a RID stallion to a TB mare, then you can register, but its under different terms - I think it an Irish Sports horse. The IDHS has all the info you need to register your horse, but its a bit complicated I think !!!

Which classes are you doing Silverbreeze ?

Oracle?? Moi??

Looks like YOU'RE sorted, KautoStar1 - your chap IS Grade 1.

Who is yours passported with lochpearl? If it's Ireland, you'll need to get your passport over-stamped by IDHS (GB) If both sire and dam are RID - then he's RID and Grade 1. If only one parent is RID, then he's SHR (Sport Horse Register)

Oh, pictures please, and breeding!!
I would love to go to the NW show (if I win the lotto and buy a lorry beforehand!). This thread has reminded me to get my boys passport overstamped by IDHS (GB) pronto!

I will be doing the 4-6 year old ridden sports horse and I think I will have a go at the performance horse too if her jumping continues to improve the way it is.
I went to the irish draught show at Lincoln last year and loved it but I was away for the North West one, much to my mothers disgust
