Registered names...

i'm new to this so hope the post works...

My horse is registered with the irish draught horse society but i chose her name when i was 12! now years on i really dont like it, it seemed nice at the time! can you re register them with a different name does any one know or is it once they're registered they're stuck with that name?

I tried to change mine, when I bought her it was Dervor Jessie, no offence to anyone called either, but I didnt like it so I enquired with the IDSGB when they overstamped her passport but they said it wasnt possible, but I dont call her that in competiton entries..

oh well, her names not too bad, but i'm doing some shows with her this year and i cringe every time i hear it! but thanks for your help!

For low level shows you don't need to use your horse's registered name

As they said at unaffiliated shows you can use any name.
Any chance you want to tell us the name - I'm really nosey!
I know a girl who named her horse Ginger Spice wonder how she feels about that now!!

Most PIO's will allow you to change the name - once - but the original name stays on the front of the Passport in brackets.
