Hi, I have a grey 15hh Percheron x cob who for some bizarre reason was registered with the spotted horse and pony association, I would like to show him in future, as a cob probably but no idea who to register him with. Do not want to hog him. Advice greatly appreciated. He looks like a miniature Percheron.

Don't know that you have to register him with anyone other than his passport issuing organisation? What do you anticipate competing in?

It just feels ridiculous to have a horse registered as a spotted pony when it is clearly not, at first, local shows but I think he is amazing so wherever that takes us.

SHAPS also have a special category register for non spotted animals which are normally feathery cobs.

See here http://www.britishspottedponysociety.co.uk/spotted-horse-register.htm second to last paragraph :)

I'm pretty sure they lost their licence for passporting and non spotted ponies/horses are now re passported with pet ID. Unless I'm getting confused with the spotty pony societies SHAPS no longer exist mainly due to the fake passports they issued?

They were probably convenient at the time, doesn't mean he's registered as a spotted pony, we bought our 4year old, he was passported with the Veteran Horse Society as they were the cheapest. If you want him registered with any other society they can overstamp your current passport, for a fee...

My 14.1 heavy weight cob is registered with the miniature horse and pony society! I guees cos they were the cheapest. We had an imported polish cob that we think was a percheron x cob. I would love to see yours
