Started my mare on regumate nearly 3 weeks ago, as she seems to always be in season. She wasnt too bad, just the usual tail swishing, squirting, prancing about etc.

Well unless going mad, i swear shes now worse!? Shes squirting, prancing, rearing on way to field and trying to tank off. Spooking left right and centre, not like her at all! When bring ridden, shes very narky especially in canter, ears back etc.

Spoke to vet and she says she might have a large follic and once thats gone regumate should kick in, leave her on it a month.

Does anyone have any advise, ive never owned a mare like her before!!

Thanks

Spoke to vet and she says she might have a large follic and once thats gone regumate should kick in, leave her on it a month.

She won't have had a 'large follicle' for a couple of weeks - unless it's a persistent/haemorrhagic follicle - which seems likely! They CAN just go - they can also hang on for weeks (or months!) and can be painful. If things haven't changed within a few days I'd want her ovaries scanned (by a repro vet!!) - and if she has a haemorrhagic follicle, she can be given an injection to shift it. In theory she could just have the jab -but it might be something like an ovarian tumouir causing the problems (which requires different treatment!)

Thanks for your reply. yes vet mentioned aomething about a jab, will see how she goes this week, and if no better get her scanned.

Thanks
