Apologies for another post on Regumate!

Do people use it long term?

My mare has been on it for a few months now because she gets painful ovaries when in season and can't canter. It's worked wonders but my vet doesn't want her on it long term- her main reason being that it can reduce fertility apparently, but I have no plans to breed from her. Do others use it long term? If not what do you use? Has anyone got any info on implants for mares?

Thanks in advance

Hi. I used it nearly all year round for a while. I think however, they should have break, but if you mare suffers mabe that's not the best thing to do. I have had the marble inserted into my mare and at first I didn't think it worked, but it has as it's far far cheaper.

We use it,but only during the mares seasons (which sometimes seem to go on forever!!!) this is partly due to cost and partly because we have aboslutely no problem with her when she isnt in season.
Over the past 3 years we have used it with her from roughly may-august/september depending on when she starts coming into season and when she finishes.
