My mare had horrendous first season she was foul and made a good job of biting my arm which is till badly bruised 3 weeks later.
Vet suggested regumate and then maybe try her with marble.
She isnt awful to lead or foul in the field but hates her rugs being changed and saddle put on.She bites wall or lead rope before she shows aggression to me.
I have noticed that the warmer weather is making her life more pleasurable I feel she hates the cold and is real sensitive type anyway maybe this is the problem rather than her season.I can ride her through most things although she is stressy.
I have read alot of things about regumate being unsafe to handle .Im way over child bearing age so thats not a issue.Just wondering if regumate is way forward and your experiences.
Just to clarify she isnt too bad with other horses and I have tried agnes castus and global herbs frisky mare plus.
Any input or experiences appreciated thanks

Ive used it on my old tb mare and had no problems with it. It really did make our lives more harmonious!! She had a 6 month course (i think but it was a long while ago!) My mare had a real cowbag attitude and i knew there was a real problem when she nearly took the ear off my friend for no reason other than she dared stand in front of her stable! The vet scanned her etc and found no major problems so we started the Regumate, since then ive had no futher problems she is still a cowbag but she is 30 now so has mellowed with old age just a tad!!

A bit of harmony would be nice she has definitely got worse .Her old owner has noticed the difference as well and we both agree its not handling isssue more like bad pmt.Vets coming on monday to drop some off then maybe look into marble for long term use.
Mine is good in the stable and field but hates being touched down her sides and rugs being changed.Maybe its worse with tbs lol

Have used Regumate, and although it's a pain to handle, make sure you wear gloves, and wash hands throughly after feeding, it does calm them down.:)

I had a specific feed bowl I used too, just in case there was any cross contamination.:)

I used it on a pony a few years ago - it wasnt a problem to handle, just made sure I wore gloves and kept a feed bowl just for her - it worked wonders on her mood swings, definitely worth it in her case. :)

We've used it on a number of mares.... Always found it works well, have never heard of any bad experiences with it other than a friend at the europeans had jumped well all week then the horse seems tired and stressy so vet sugested a jab of it, she obviously went along with it - he is a vet afterall and she went sooo lethargic she ended up with 20 faults : ( Totally puts it down to the regumate but other than that have only heard good things about it!

If you do end up buying it - Get the pig one - It's 1/3 of the price of the one designed for horses and it's exactly the same, vet can still prescribe it!
