Has anyone come across this? My mare suffers terribly when in season and doesn't seem to cycle normally. She gets very uncomfortable to be worked and is usually at her worst around this time of year. She has been on Regumate for some time with great success, Until this week. She is very uncomfortable, spooky and has messy legs. Her dose has remained the same and nothing else has changed. We tried the marble last year which stopped working September time, so switched back to Regumate. Is it possible she needs a stronger dose during transitional times? Will be ringing vet first thing tomorrow.

I have a similar problem with my mare, regumate helps but she still comes into season so would be interested if anyone had any opinions on this one. OP did you speak to your vet and what did they say? I am going to talk to my vet this week too. Can't you just tell spring has finally arrived!!!

Yes we scanned the ovaries many times, they were fairly normal. No tumours, but in the year prior to regumate she produced two haemorragic (can't spell) follicles and also had two very large follicles in one ovary at the same time and goes lame depending on which ovary is playing up. Spoke to Vet yesterday, didn't seem overly concerned and recommended I up the dose from 10ml to 15ml for a week or two and see if it helps. Agreed it's the time of year and knowing my mare not surprising.

Unfortunately the ovaries are no longer covered on the insurance. It was part of a claim that ran out last year, we found other issues we had to deal with first. Very frustrating

Interested in what people are saying about ovary removal- I've had a couple of people mention it to me, it seems to be becoming a more common treatment now - I guess because it can be done as standing surgery? Does it give good results?-it's a drastic option, but is it worse than pumping her full of regumate year after year?
Anybody had any success with other treatment methods?
