If you can get hold of it for a cheaper option, how much of it do you feed compared to the horse one? It says 0.4% Altrenogest on the Porcine and 2.20mg/ml on the horse one.

So feeding 12ml of the horse one, what would this equate to for the porcine?

The Porcine is £40 for 360ml, horse one £40 for 150ml

Friend used it, although i remember at the time being very sceptical about giving a product for pigs to horses, especially as at the time the vet she uses had been struck off!! i have a feeling ( and i could be wrong as it was a couple of years ago) that she was feeding 30ml, to a hugely built ( think rhino) 16hh mare.
But dont take my word for it as like i say it was a long time ago.

My vet used to give this to me originally and it is loads cheaper. However, something to do with EU rules means they can't prescribe it. I can't remember the dose though-sorry.

I used it for my mare, and it's fine. Same stuff just much cheaper!

Mine came in a handy pressurized container and you just gave one pump/dose a day. Really easy to use and much less messy than the horse one - important when you're trying to keep it off your hands!

A major comp horse stud I worked at a few years ago used this on a couple of the pregnant broodmares. They were getting 15ml a day and were big WB types.

It can be used in 2 ways - to regulate the cycle of the not-yet-in-foal-mare-but-trying and to help a mare keep her pregnancy. Most mares that need it to hold on to a pregnancy, are ones that have had problems in the past (conceiving, uterine cysts, early abortion etc...) and they are often weaned off it by the time they are 150 days in-foal, though some will stay on it till approx. 1 month prior to their due date.
