Hi, looking for some advice if poss. My mare has always been a bit tricky come spring, and have always used regumate porcine with great effect.
Last year she was more 'seasonal' than normal, fell in lust with another mare for a while and spent the whole time neighing for her, stuck her on regumate again for the rest of spring and summer and that put a stop to it.
A week ago she came into season again, only sign really was the neighing for anything with four legs, separation anxiety and difficulty to catch. Previously she has never displayed any other 'in season' like symptoms (in years gone by) but this weekend she was terrible, squirting everywhere, legs a kimbo everytime anyone came near her - (mare or gelding!), complete obsession/lust with two other mares in the field with her/next to her and pretty much unrideable due to constant neighing and desire to be facing one direction only.
Stuck her on regumate again and within 48 hrs she as calm as a donkey and very biddable - like her normal self.
My question is (after that long winded intro!) that i read somewhere regumate can actually make their seasons worse with longer terms use... does anyone know if that is the case? Or is it simply she is growing up now (she is 6) and so is getting more 'mare-ish'? I have tried all the normal herbal supplements, oestress etc and nothing touches it like regumate does so happy to keep on using it as long as it is not making her more 'sluttish'!!
Also intrigued by the marble - have heard mixed reports - anyone have any thoughts on whether this might be the way forward?
Sorry this is so long, thought i better set the scene
thanks in advance!!
