Can anyone help. Had fab opportunity to buy a mare back that I bred 10yrs ago. She is gorgeous. Have known where she has been for last 5 years and visited regularly and she always seemed calm and fine and sweet as.
Bought her and got her back to my livery yard 4 weeks ago and she has turned into bitch from hell. Havent been able to put her in with other horses yet as she keeps attacking them all over the fence (but also calls for them as well and ocasionally mutual grooms soom of them at times). After about 2 weeks she then came into season and turned worse. Have had vet perscribe regumate to try calm things down but not working yet. She has been on it for 5 days. Have had to resort to blue chip calma aswell to try calm her down.
Has anyone had any experience of regumate and if so what effects did it have and did it help.

Someone please help with any ideas as I am getting desperate to get my lovely mare back

Regumate does work and works well .However I recently had a mare implanted with a polycarbonate marble [inserted into cervix, makes the little dear think shes preggers]and could see a diff by the next day . I call Regumate "bitchbegone" but beleive the marble is better .

my friend's horse recently and kicked the yard owner leaving her with less teeth. she's always been a very mareish mare especially when in season, she's now on regumate and its working a treat, but might be having her ovaries removed.

Another vote for the marble here, Kizzy's is blue, so she must be having a boy!! I have noticed a real difference, like we cn hack calmly, & if she does spook its not a major issue.

works very well and if I was prepared to have a mare, I would always use it, must be careful to use it extremely spot on as far as feed time and daily, not missing the "odd one"!!

Regumate worked wonders on my mare, I cant remember how long it took to work sorry!

I think it is probably quite expensive - when I used it, my vet prescribed the one for pigs because it was cheaper, but I dont think they are allowed to do that anymore!

Good luck.
