Advice please: My horse has been lame (never more than 2/10) on his left fore since we bought him at the end of September 2013. Initially diagnosed by vet as Synovitis of the coffin joint, he was put on box-rest and received a HA/cortisone injection. He was still NQR in January 2014. Vet suggested another month off, with turnout, and then a gradual return to work. "If still not right, next step is MRI as he might have tweeked his collateral ligament". We followed the vets instructions and began hacking out early Feb, recently starting short periods of trot work. It is apparent that he is still NQR in trot. My question is - what stage should I go back to now - box rest? As the horse has been lame since purchase, he is not insured and so an MRI is ruled out. I am approaching this as a soft tissue injury now....
